A belief statement testifies to the authority of the institution of mankind.
The first verse in the Bible is not a belief statement as in, “We believe that in the beginning of God’s preparing…”

Second Timothy 3:16 says of the Holy Writings, “every Writing is God-breathed, and is profitable for teaching, for conviction, for setting aright, for instruction that is in righteousness,” thus the Writings are preemptory authority before other writings. Man-made creeds, doctrines, traditions, or theologies are not authoritative above the Bible.
